Avalon Theater

0.2 miles

Experience movie making the way it was originally intended. Located in the lower level of the Catalina Casino, the Avalon Theater is a bit of glamour and sophistication, with its fabulously rich, art-deco murals adorning the walls, 1929 classic pipe organ, and its expansive 43-foot ceiling. Feel the rush of movie-making as it once was in the silent movie era. Take a trip to yesteryear, when big bands like Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller and Duke Ellington swung the swing era across the Avalon stage, and Cecil B. Demille viewed the “rushes” of the day’s movie shoot from his editing room. See the “green” rooms used by Cary Grant and Errol Flynn. Today, the Avalon Theater is still a working movie theater, ballroom and concert hall, seating 1,184 people. Tickets are $10 and include $2 off admission to the newly remodeled Catalina Island Museum (a $5 value.)
